Milne Bay - Papua New Guinea
From the Treetops to Ocean Depths Stunning Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea, Backpacker friendly!

Ulumani - Treetops Rainforest Lodge is a home to some stunning and unique varieties of Orchids. The Land Owners have been very protective of the Orchids Not Allowing Visitors to Remove them giving a Unique arrangement of Orchids not found elsewhere. In the past 32 years, the loggers had salvage the rainforest and they have lost all the unique varietie of Orchids, home for birds and animals in the wild and the marine life was also polluted. The logging ships which came to buy the logs had also marched into the rainforest and helped themselves in the rainforest with Orchids too. Sadly they have lost lots of the varieties of Orchids in the rainforest all the bird life. In doing so the lodge had to be built to protect whatever little was left after logging was stopped.

The mission for the lodge set up is to protect the rainforest and the animals and make awareness to the new generation that the logging does not happen again in the near future and protecting the environment. The children can learn and love the rain forest from their grate grand -parents and ejoy every moment of it. Their childrens' children will also enjoy the unique environment they grow up in and learn about their rainforest and culture.

Ulumani - Rainforest Lodge has some unique butterflies which come flying around the lodge when there is a bit of rain and sun which the butterflies enjoy feeding on the flowers or just flying around in the gardens.Your stay on the three accommodations will be filled with wild life surprises and no doubt you will not be bored as you will have lots of activities to do or just relax in the sound of nature.

All our Orchids flower in different months of the year. Not all of them flower in one month. They flower on the wet season and some of them flower in dry or summer season.
